Lalita Nijhawan, the Director of Nijhawan Group of Companies, is one of the most successful business woman achievers in India. She has received several awards and accolades for her notable work in social activism as an educationist and advocate of women empowerment. A prolific writer with a zeal for advocating gender parity and social equality, her articles are published in leading dailies, magazines and websites. She writes on current socio-political issues for the rights of women and children.

For her phenomenal contribution in the field of education, she has been honoured by the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee in 2016. She has also received an award for ‘Top Best Talented Ladies’ of Delhi from notable entrepreneur Shahnaz Hussain in 2005, ‘Ojaswani Award’ for women entrepreneurs in 2008, and ‘IWEC’ (International Women Entrepreneurial Challenges) Award in Brussels, Belgium in 2016. She has received numerous awards throughout her lifetime like Amity Excellence Award as a Woman Entrepreneur, 100 Successful Entrepreneur by MSME Government of India in 2021, Baba Sahib National Award presented by Dr B.R. Ambedkar International Foundation, Awarded by FICCI FLO as a successful entrepreneur for 2 consecutive years in 2020 & 2021Nari Shakti Award & SHERO Plaque in 2018, and Trailblazer Award as a writer.

In college Mrs. Nijhawan was presented awards for excellence in academics by former Central Govt Education Minister Prof. Narul Hassan and elected as the College President. In school she was presented an award for excellence in arts by former Vice President of India Dr Zakir Hussain.

At International Level she has made Indian Women proud by introducing India’s rich cultural heritage of respect towards women to delegates. From her young college days she has been working for the underprivileged.

She is the Director of Nijhawan Travel Service Pvt Ltd. and the founder of Travel Boutique.

Social Activist

She is the President of CKRDT Foundation has been working in tribal areas since 1995. CKRDT helps underprivileged women and children through the promotion of education. She funds many schools in rural and tribal areas of Banswara, Rajasthan, Tripura and Orissa. She is also the co-convener of GIA (Group of Intellectuals and Academicians)

Writer

She writes for newspapers, magazines and blogs driving attention towards current socio-cultural and political issues. She currently writes as a columnist for Punjab Kesari, and has featured blog articles on the Times of India Online.

  • Banswara, Rajasthan: Schools funded in tribal areas of Sajjangarh, Shergarh, Mokhampura, Gangar Talaj, Malkhemji. She started her journey here when she was told by her father that if there were 3 children in the family they didn’t have enough food so after every 3rd day a child would have food. This shifted her thinking to work for underprivileged.
  • Tripura: She adopted tribal villages Karamcherra, Pecharthal, Damcherra and funded schools
  • Odisha: Villages Dongajor, Sambalpur adopted and schools funded
  • Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: Member of ‘Panini Kanya Maha Vidhyalaya’ and encouraging girls to learn Vedas & Sanskrit
  • Haridwar, Uttarakhand: Funding an orphanage and providing education, employment and support for marriage to girls.
  • Delhi: Chander Kanta Rajeshwar Dharmarth Trust (CKRDT) provides education of computer skills to children, kidney dialysis instruments to AIIMS hospital, sets up health camps & clinics in slums
  • Kerala: A team of 5 had gone to Kerala for fact finding & activism of rape & murder in case of a girl.
  • Jammu & Kashmir: A team of 5 had gone to Kathua for fact finding in Kathua Rape Case.
