The nation wide controversy on Sanjay Lela Bhansali’s movie “padmavati’ sparked a festering debate among people - how long will we allow our history to be diluted due to storytelling? ‘Justice for Jisha’: A Heinous Rape and Murder Case - Fact Finding Team went to Kerala to get “Justice for Jisha” & presented findings to Press Club - Ernakulam

Jisha, a rape and murder victim, the ‘NIRBHAYA of Kerala’ yet the crime infinitely more gruesome. GIA took it upon themselves to bring awareness to this case. Lacking media attention and pressure of society this case almost managed to slip through the crevice. Taking no issue as big or small GIA’s team decided to look at the root cause of crimes against women. They questioned why such incidents keep repeating and proposed solutions for the same.

GIA looked at the meaning of ‘nationalism’ in the Indian perspective. The team took a multilateral view and questioned the feasibility of applying Western theories of nationalism in India. The publication and seminars that followed are an explanatory response of national culture and history, which is distorted by limited theories and perspectives.

Following the manufactured debate of tolerance vs. intolerance GIA’s publication includes a diaspora of issues confronted head-on. India is not an intolerant nation, yet every nation strives for improvement. We do so by arguing against personal laws and for a Uniform Civil Code.
